Purgatory Bibliography

Requiem Mass for the Holy Souls in Purgatory (Ars Sacra 10399)

Or, “Purgatory Library”

All Souls’ Day 2018 (Commemoratio omnium fidelium defunctorum)

May it please His Majesty that I present to you, dear reader, a treasure trove of resources on the dogma of Purgatory, for His Majesty’s greater glory, the honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the salvation of souls, the relief of the holy souls suffering in the fires of Purgatory, and the triumph of the Catholic Church, outside which no one at all is saved.

Always, but especially today, offer up your daily 15-Decade Rosary for the poor souls suffering in Purgatory. Hope you have traditional Masses offered. Never forget the Church Suffering!

“O my God, because You, Who can neither deceive nor be deceived, have revealed the truths of faith to the Catholic Church, I believe everything the Catholic Church proposes to my belief, and reject everything that she rejects” (cf. St. Alphonsus, Fr. Michael Müller).

Arming apologists and most of all priests with an arsenal to understand, explain, and defend the truth (cf. libraries on Divorce, Filioque, the Immaculate Conception, and Papal Primacy and Infallibility).

Under construction. Merci de votre patience!

Quote: “… Purgatory, where there are very grievous punishments, and to anyone is there, every hour seems a thousand before he can leave these torments behind. Indeed, everyone ought to pray every day for the dead, because they are waiting for our prayers, since they cannot merit anything more for themselves, if they are not aided through the prayers of the Church. Oh, if only you could know how harsh the pains of Purgatory are, you would much sooner choose to have all the wars, famines, and plagues of this life come down on you than to remain in those torments of Purgatory.”

Note: In “The Ninth Article of the Creed” Q29 can be misleading. Here one must stress that ““… one who is not a member of the body of the Church vel in actu vel in voto does not belong to the soul of the Church, and therefore cannot be saved, or, in other words, one must, in order to be saved, belong to the Church either actually or in explicit desire (Orestes Brownson, https://books.google.com/books?id=txMDAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA144). In other words, those who never had the use of reason must be validly baptized with water before death to be saved, and those who had the use of reason must at least “see the truth of the Catholic faith, be sincerely sorry for [their] sins, and sincerely desire to die a good Catholic” before death to be saved (Fr. Michael Müller, Familiar Explanation of Christian Doctrine, vol. 3, 108 – New York, Catholic Publication Society, 1875 – https://books.google.com/books?id=p9DGGlo0DWwC&pg=108).
